The artist Roman Ondák is known for making artworks so subtle that many people don’t know they are there at all. A piece in the Tate Collection, for example, consists of ordinary people queuing up at various places in the gallery. In Loop, at the Venice Biennale, he turns the Czech and Slovak Pavilion into a botanical environment that merges seamlessly with the Giardini gardens. It’s all the more mischievous for the fact that many pass through the ‘loop’ without even realising it.
